Audubon Sanctuary Program
Eastpointe Country Club is very proud to have achieved designation as a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. Eastpointe Country Club is part of a prestigious list of the world’s top environmentally sensitive facilities. John Spiwak, Director of Golf Course Grounds has led the effort to obtain our sanctuary status and has been recognized for his Environmental Stewardship by Audubon International.
"Eastpointe Country Club has shown a strong commitment to its environmental program. They are to be commended for their efforts to provide a sanctuary for wildlife on the golf course property," said Jim Sluiter, Staff Ecologist for the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Programs.
To reach certification, a course must demonstrate that they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas. These categories include: Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.
Members at Eastpointe Country Club have worked hard to maintain a strong environmental policy and even have a tree program that receives numerous donations throughout the year. We have worked very hard to achieve this designation and are very proud of our East Course and our standing as a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
